The 2023 China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, which will feature the 36th China Golden Rooster Awards, will start on November 1st in the city of Xiamen, East China's Fujian Province.

The event will run until November 4 and see nominees compete for Golden Roosters in 20 categories, according to a  press release.

The festival's main activities include film screenings and academic forums.

Traditional Chinese Opera film is a unique form of film art in China. The film genre will also be seen as a topic to be discussed at the academic forum of the 36th China Golden Rooster Awards. The special forum session will discuss issues such as the aesthetic expressions of contemporary Chinese opera films and how the traditional art can be revived through film, the modern media. The aim of the forum is to exhibit China's time-honored cultural legacy as well as to explore its new creative transformation.

A highlight to the upcoming the 36th China Golden Rooster Awards is that it will hold special exhibitions that focus on film productions from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the island of Taiwan.

Such visual stories exhibit their unique cultural characters and they will also display the cultural and artistic developments of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The poster design of the 36th China Golden Rooster Awards has also been revealed. It has been designed into vibrant red and with a rooster character in the middle.

The design of the poster was inspired by China's paper-cut art. The art form is one of China's intangible cultural heritage treasures.
