Culture Beat: Registration begins for Fujian student design competition

The 2023 International College Students Design Competition has started accepting applications from student competitors in Yongtai, East China's Fujian Province.  

This competition will focus on Yongtai county, one of the areas with the best overall cultural protection of traditional villages in China, and carry out IP image design and three-dimensional character animation productions for the region, so as to help better promote the protection of local intangible cultural heritage and cultural customs.

The competition has three units: traditional village IP design, local environment plan design, and building revitalization design.  

Boasting many beautiful ancient villages, Yongtai county has the largest number of traditional villages within Fujian. 

There are 33 traditional Chinese villages in the province. 

Zhuangzhai, a large traditional house widely found in these traditional villages, is the most important cultural resource of Yongtai as well. Its skilled construction embodies a balanced and family living model that can respond to the multiple challenges from the environment. It is distinctly unique even in a global perspective.

The registration period is scheduled to end on August 30.
