Renowned Chinese pianist Lang Lang's latest album Lang Lang: Saint-Saëns will be released on Friday, featuring Saint-Saëns's "Piano Concerto No. 2" and "Carnival of the Animals," along with other French classics and works by five French composers.

Lang Lang worked with conductor Andris Nelsons, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, and his wife Gina Alice, who is also a pianist for the album which is distributed globally by Deutsche Grammophon.

"The production of this album is an exhilarating exploration of Camille Saint-Saëns's world," said Lang.

With an aim to guide young listeners into classical music appreciation, the album begins with "Carnival of the Animals" at the forefront. "Many of us remember hearing this song during our childhood. Beneath its joyful surface lies clever ideas which are expressed in a humorous way," he said.

The epic musical masterpiece, consisting of 14 movements, composed by Saint-Saëns in 1886 and published several months after his death in 1921, quickly became a favorite among concert goers.

The album also features Saint-Saëns's "Piano Concerto No. 2," debuted by Saint-Saëns in Paris in May 1868, followed by a second performance at the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra in October of the same year.

Andris Nelsons, music director of the Orchestra, said that "the orchestra has a special connection and interpretation of Saint-Saëns's music."

The album also included renowned solo and duet pieces, such as Ravel's "Pavane for a Dead Princess."

Additionally, pieces by Fauré and Delibes, along with works by five French composers including Lili Boulanger, are all included in the album.

The album will be released in digital, dual CD, and dual vinyl formats.
