A calligraphy and painting exhibition featuring works by Chinese artist Liu Shaobai kicked off at the Xingtan Art Museum in Beijing on January 1, showcasing a collection of over 100 artworks from Liu, including calligraphy, paintings, porcelain and traditional Chinese qipao dresses.

The exhibition features a wide range of artistic expressions, including landscape paintings, floral and bird compositions, and depictions of figures.

Liu's calligraphy focuses on the clerical script and inscriptions, presenting about 100 works in various formats such as folding screens, hanging scrolls, couplets, square seals, and small-scale works.

During the opening ceremony, Liu Shaogang, a researcher at the Research and Conservation Center for Excavated Texts of the Tsinghua University, Liu Mo, a researcher at Peking University, and renowned artist Wu Yueshi delivered speeches.

Liu Shaogang praised Liu Shaobai's pursuit of excellence in calligraphy, painting, and seal carving. He noted the grandeur of Liu's clerical script and the innovative integration of ancient characters into his seals, creating a distinctive style within the realm of seal carving.

Liu Mo highlighted Liu Shaobai's role as a representative figure born in the 1980s who is good at freehand brush work, emphasizing his versatile talents in calligraphy, painting, and carving, as well as a comprehensive understanding of traditional culture.
