Culture Beat: Youth photography exhibition unveiled

The 5th National Youth Photography Exhibition was unveiled on Saturday in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu Province.

Co-organized by the China Photographers Association and other institutions, the 5th National Youth Photography Exhibition is guided by the philosophy of youth, diversity, and innovation. 

With the theme of New Era, New Journey, New Achievements, it is divided into several units, including Technology and New Light, Hello Life, Green Waters and Blue Mountains, Ancient Rhymes and New Trends, Hometown Stories, Love and Growth, and Charming Suzhou, Beautiful Taihu. 

From close and microscopic perspectives to vast and panoramic views of time and space, the exhibition brings together a collective of young photographers, showcasing the expanding horizons of youthful eyes and the expressive personalities of youth.

The exhibition invitedentries from a group aged from 14 to 44, calling on young people to actively use the language of photography to depict vivid practices, moving stories, and beautiful moments in life. 

The exhibition attracted 11,846 entries, totaling 90,417 pieces from Chinese youth both living in China and residing in Argentina, the UK, Germany and Canada.

The selected exhibits  cover diverse subjects, presenting a kaleidoscope of creativity. They reflect both traditional steadfastness and innovative and positive artistic exploration, embodying youths' reflections on the era and life. Their works also distinctly highlight the characteristics of today's youths: attention to the forefront of technological development, consideration of the cultural development context, interest in urban life, concern for natural ecology, awareness of self, transcending professional boundaries, bold creation for the future, and the connection between art andtechnology, tradition, and contemporary culture.

The main exhibition is held  at the Suzhou Wuzhong District Art Museum featuring 119 selected works. Additionally, a satellite exhibition is set up at the Suzhou Wuxi Cultural Museum, displaying a curated selection of works from the exhibition.
