The 2023 International Computer Music Conference kicked off in Shenzhen, South China’s Guangdong Province, on Sunday night. The conference, hosted by the School of Music at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in Shenzhen, will feature 20 concerts, 12 paper readings, 8 sound installations, 4 workshops, 2 keynote speeches, and 3 music industry lectures over six days.

According to Ye Xiaogang, chairman of the organizing committee of the conference and chairman of the Chinese Musicians Association, this conference uses music as a medium to promote mutual learning among civilizations in the world’s diverse contexts and explore the role of music technology in art, culture, society, and life. It also aims to bring together cultures from different countries.

He also hoped that the conference will contribute more to human innovations and art creations.

As one of the largest and most important annual international academic conferences in the field of computer music, the conference has been held 47 times across the world. Nearly 800 works and proposals have been received worldwide in four major sections: music, papers, sound installations, and workshops.
