A Chinese museum craze has been embracing a surge during the eight-day Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, with most museums launching various activities to pull in more visitors.

Many museums were fully booked amid the 2023 Golden Week, from September 29 to October 6.

According to official reservation systems of Jiangxi Provincial Museum in East China, reservations are full for today as well as the National Museum of China in Beijing.

Emperor Qinshihuang Mausoleum Site Park issued a reminder on October 1 that tickets from October 1 to 4 are sold out, with only a few tickets left for the following days. For Guangdong Provincial Museum, Nanjing Museum as well as other museums, the booking system shows that bookings have been full from October 5 to 6.

The Sichuan museum will implement crowd control measures to limit the flow of visitors, with a daily limit of 10,000 visitors, according to a China News report.

The Museum has launched some special exhibitions, non-heritage experiences, and nighttime tours of the museum to attract more visitors.

One exhibition, the Pursuing and Visioning the Past: Travelling through the Bronze Age in the Hangzhou Museum allows visitors to learn about bronze, what it's used for, and they'll even have the chance to make it, Chen Jiaoyan, an employee in the department of Communication and Education of Hangzhou Museum, told the Global Times on Friday.

At the National Archaeological Site Park of Han Dynasty Haihun Marquis in Jiangxi Province, visitors will have the opportunity to wear traditional Han clothes, listen to Han music, watch Han dances, taste Han hot pot, as well as 10 other fun activities. With this rich and real experience, visitors will be able to expand the knowledge and understanding of the history, culture, food and rituals of the Han Dynasty.

Also, during the holiday period, a number of museums have invited tourists on a night tour. From September 29 to October 2, Jiangxi Provincial Museum launched the "Wonderful Night" activities, opening night exhibitions. Jiangxi Pingxiang Confucius Temple Museum is also open throughout the National Day holiday for the first time, with cultural and artistic, as well as non-heritage performances.

In Urumqi Museum, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the "Wonderful Night" was also launched during the holiday, inviting visitors to feel the traditional Chinese costumes.
