This Friday, China celebrates the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival. It's an occasion for families to share moon cakes beneath the full moon, think of loved ones far away, and watch the Mid-Autumn Festival Gala together.
This year's China Media Group Mid-Autumn Festival Gala comes from the Changjiang National Park in the city of Yibin, Southwest China's Sichuan Province.
Yibin's Yangtze River culture, folk customs, and the Ancient Tea and Horse Trail create an ideal backdrop for a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration. The setting's appeal is enhanced by the colorful costumes of the local ethnic groups and the beautiful natural scenery.
In recent years, the Mid-Autumn Festival Gala, held at the time of the full moon, has provided Chinese people around the world the opportunity to share their best wishes.
The gala's executive director, Dong Jinming, explained that more than 20 programs will appear in this year's gala, based on five themes: poetry, wine, the moon, water and bamboo. The songs, orchestral performances and dances are designed to create an atmosphere that encourages viewers to think of the friends and family they're missing. Overall, Dong promises an evening of outstanding event highlighting some of the finest elements of Chinese culture.
