Greece: Greek cinema takes part in the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival

With the online and offline presentations of the latest Greek cinema productions and the ongoing incentives policies for attracting foreign film productions, Greece participated in the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), which launched on June 9, 2023. 

Following the initiative of the Embassy of Greece in China and with the support of the Greek Consulate General in Shanghai, the Greek Film Centre and EKOME S.A showcased in China's most popular film industry event with their own digital booths under the umbrella of Greek content. 

"With China's opening up after the pandemic, Chinese companies clearly consider setting movie productions abroad, with Greece being one of the countries of interest. In the 25th SIFF, Chinese cinema authorities will get the opportunity to learn about the substantial incentives for shooting international productions in Greece. Already, a large number of international film producers, including some Hollywood producers, have produced their movies in Greece. In this framework, we believe that our presence in the festival will have a most positive impact," said the Greek Ambassador in China Evgenios Kalpiris. 

Speaking at a forum at the SIFF, the Public Diplomacy Office of the Consulate General of Greece in Shanghai gave a comprehensive presentation to filmmakers, directors and the public on the benefits of film and audiovisual production in Greece.
